henry vs road

On our afternoon walk yesterday, Henry tripped on his pant leg or new shoes or an invisible dog or something and planted face-first, full-force in the street. In addition to his two skinned knees, he has this lovely goose-egg right in the middle of his forehead. Ah, little boys....it's character-building, right?

what a treat!...

It was a pretty warm spring day when one of our neighbors introduced both boys to Icy Pops, a part of their childhood I had unwittingly neglected. How good is brightly-colored frozen sugar water on a hot day? Delicious!!

my first real official haircut...

We went to get haircuts this week and Henry had his first real haircut--I tried to hold off as long as I could!! But she really just shaped it up a little into what she called a "surfer" look. Basically still a little longer in the back and longer bangs kind of swept to the side. He did great, much better than Luke did at the age, but that may be because she only used scissors and no clippers. He has very fine and kind of thin hair that clippers would not have really worked. But we handed him a lolly and turned on the TV and he was mesmerized.

Sitting in the little car, watching TV

This was his first time having a lolly and he did not really get how they work. If you have good eyes, you can see that he has just bitten the candy right off the stick! (And has a really blue mouth)

The finished product! Very handsome and grown-up...Boo-hoo!
