christmas #1....

The first Christmas of the season was at our house with the Fitts/Barriger families. The boys were thrilled to have so many people at their house to play with and to show off their tricks to. We were especially excited to have Mur and King able to come down to help us celebrate! Here are some pictures from Henry's world:

this is so henry....

This is a hilarious story that does a great job of defining Henry. I took him to the YMCA daycare while I went to Zumba class. When I came to get him, the class had done a little arts and crafts jack-o-lantern. So they got his and said, "oh, he is the one with the sad faced pumpkin. We tried to get him to change it and he wouldn't." I felt so awful--here is my kid with the sad face--but I asked him, "Henry, is your pumpkin sad?" This is what he said at the Y and to Daddy later:

In case you couldn't hear him, he said, "No, spooky!" The Y ladies laughed and laughed and are totally in love with him. How awesome that he wouldn't change it to be a happy face like everyone else! What an individual! At 2 years old!

OK, OK I may be reading a little too much into it, but it was still pretty cute.

my chosen profession...

So we are making dinner and Henry is walking around like this with his fire helmet and binoculars. I ask him what he is doing and he says, "Looking for fires."

Only you can prevent forest fires...

my first ER visit...

Check out my cool bracelet...

So I was at work last night and we get a call that Henry is coming in via ambulance. He had had a febrile seizure(fever induced) while eating dinner at home (poor Sam--he was home alone with the boys.) Sam cleared the mouthful of food Henry had and held him while the seizure passed. Luke was very brave and listened to Daddy to get his shoes on and that Henry was very sick. The police car came first and then the fire truck with full lights and sirens--Luke's eyes were apparently wide as can be. Then the ambulance came and by then Henry was starting to come around, but they brought him in just to be checked out.

So I was pretty nervous until they got there. Luckily we were well-staffed and I was able (well, forced really) to clock out as soon as we got the call so I could be mom and not RN. As they were rolling in, I had them checked in and assigned a room with a doc and nurse standing by (well, there are some perks to this job!) Once his fever came down, he was fine, running around, eating popsicles and watching movies. Henry will be fine and it does not mean he is epileptic, but it does mean that he has a 50% higher risk of having another febrile seizure anytime he gets sick, probably until he is 6. Exciting stuff. Henry is fine today, tired but running around, playing and fever-free!! Sam was good until we got back to the house and saw Henry's high chair where he was sitting when the seizure occurred. That was the first time he had really had a chance to think about what had happened. I think it is going to take him a while to shake that mental image.

sesame street live!!....

This weekend we headed in town on the train to see Sesame Street Live! While the subway was a huge hit in and of itself, both boys loved the show. Henry sat captivated the entire time and at one point got up and started to dance along with the characters. Luke did enjoy it too; although he loved the train the best, I think, with counting the stops and looking at the map with the different stations and figuring out the station names.

"I love the subway train..."

"Choo Choo train!!"

Waiting for the show to begin!!

surprise trip...

Labor Day, we woke up to a Daddy surprise--Six Flags!! Both boys were big enough to ride all the smaller rides and they had a great time!! For Henry, aka "Mr Choo Choo," the Thomas village and train was the highlight of the day.

Smiles on the swings...but tears for Henry on the Ferris wheel. :(

Thomas!
